BAT VIETNAM IS LOOKING FOR LEGAL & COMPLIANCE EXECUTIVE

SENIORITY LEVEL: Management Level

FUNCTION:Legal

SALARY RANGE: Competitive market salary + Bonus scheme + Excellent benefits

LOCATION: Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam

WHAT YOU WILL BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR

Compliance

  • Involved in development and roll-out of local policies and procedures, following regional and global policies;
  • Provide compliance advice to business on a wide range of matters relating to internal policies, standards of business conduct and local legal requirements, as well as promoting compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and codes to the highest standards of integrity;
  • Lead all aspects of the record management of Company and assists in performing the annual audit on workgroups, constantly reviewing and updating changes required on the workgroup schedules, prioritising training and workshops, enhance compliance from all the workgroups with the Group Records Management;
  • Partnering with Legal Counsel/Senior Legal Counsel to organize and lead training sessions, in relation to all policies and standards managed by Legal, for the wider business and conduct/deliver trainings to employees (incl. on-site training/visits to regional offices for Compliance training);
  • Support the implementation, operation and tracking of Company’s policies, procedures (including Compliance Dashboard);
  • Supports in the preparation for compliance agenda and monthly compliance-related meetings, such as Governance meetings, R&C Committee meetings and Legal meetings;
  • Undertakes and supervises third party screening/ due diligence checks of the Company; and
  • Support the SoBC communications.

Legal

  • Assist Legal Counsel in preparation and/or review of BAU contracts;
  • Provide legal advice on daily or ad hoc operational issues to business partners as requested by Legal Counsel from time to time;
  • Assist in preparation, update and/or submission of annual report, notice, and amendment of licences for BAT’s legal entities;
  • Involved in preparation, update and/or review of power of attorney (POA);
  • Provide high quality translation from English to Vietnamese of legal documents and vice versa;
  • Provide record research and legal documents' search if required; and
  • Playing an active role within function to build and sustain an effective ‘One Team’ concept.

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

General

  • Proven experience of 4 years working for law firms/consulting companies or in similar roles within multinational corporations;
  • Bachelors Degree in Law or any related field from a recognized law university; and
  • Experience of working in Corporate Services/Compliance is a plus

Technical skills

  • Understanding of the legal framework applicable to the tobacco industry;
  • Understanding of process of enactment of legislation;
  • Proficiency in corporate law, commercial law and labor law;
  • Understanding of commercial aspects; and
  • Proficient written and spoken English and Vietnamese, ability to communicate and draft documents in English and Vietnamese.
